Chania Prefecture has attracted new hotels, strong foreign and domestic investors and strong interest in recent years, as there are many opportunities for tourism development. In the coming weeks, the new hotel of the chain of Israeli interests, Brown Hotel, should open in Chania, in the Akrotiri region. This is only the company’s second five-star hotel, after Corinth. Isla Brown Chania, develops at the eastern end of the Gulf of Chania, on the Akrotiri peninsula and has 148 luxury rooms and suites with private swimming pool. Its facilities include 3 large swimming pools, a spa and wellness center and 3 restaurants. The design of the new hotel was undertaken by Liakos Architects and Associates, who designed a modern hotel complex linked to the location and history of the Akrotiri peninsula, offering tranquility and refined aesthetics.

In the city of Chania, the new Azade hotel opened last summer under the management of Modus & Amplio. It is an emblematic building dating back to 1640 AD, which has been renovated and now houses 9 rooms and suites, with high-level amenities and services. Almost all rooms have a private balcony overlooking the sea, the old Venetian port and the Venetian walls of the old town.

The prefecture’s luxurious additions include the two units of Domes Hotels & Resorts, which effectively brought the Marriott chain to Chania, as Domes Noruz Chania operates under the Autograph Collection group and under the brand name The Luxury Collection operates Domes Zeen Chania. Both hotels are adults only.

The long-awaited arrival of Sani/Ikos
This year, the work of the Sani/Ikos group, which is making its debut in Crete with an investment of 125 million euros, begins for the creation of the luxurious resort Ikos Kissamos. The ultra-luxury resort will be developed over an area of ​​over 200,000 square meters. in the bay of Kissamos Chania. The new Ikos will have a total of 400 rooms, bungalows and villas that will stretch over 600 meters of beachfront. It is scheduled to open in May 2025. To create the unique area of ​​200 thousand square meters, the group has acquired and consolidated more of 30 individual plots. After its completion, more than 750 new jobs will be created.

The mega project in Kolymbari
In the Kolymvari region of Chania, at the location “Ravdoucha”, the Cypriot group Leptos has been promoting the tourist investment complex “Costa Nopia” for years. After receiving approvals from the Municipality of Platanias and the Region of Crete for the environmental impact study, it began the procedures for obtaining the permits. The project, which has a budget of more than 300 million euros and includes the creation of 13 districts with approximately 830 housing units in which there are also shops serving residents and visitors. In addition, it includes two hotel units with a total capacity of 300 rooms and 600 beds, a doctor’s office and a pharmacy. A small 9-hole golf course and other sports facilities and reception facilities such as tourist accommodation, restaurants, cultural facilities (eg olive museum or other local products), etc. will be created.

According to the study, the objective of the investment is to create a very high-level, integrated seaside and tourist resort that will attract visitors throughout the year.

Climb to Chania airport
