Spartan athlete Stergios Arapoglou continues to run through the martyr sites of Greece, fighting for memory and justice. It travels 3,000 km in 50 days and passes through the most important towns and villages of Greece and Crete which suffered the Holocaust during the period 1940-1945.

The project is under the auspices of the National Council for the Recovery of Germany’s Debts to Greece.

After 2,352 kilometers he traveled in mainland Greece, from the preserved Marasia of Evros to Gytheio, passing through 23 martyr towns and villages of mainland Greece, which suffered Holocausts during the period 1941 – 1944 by the forces of occupation of the triple Axis, that is to say the Nazi Germany, fascist Italy and monarcho-fascist Bulgaria, Stergios Arapoglou arrives in Crete where he will travel 700 kilometers in Crete in 13 days. Starting from Kolymbari from PE Chania (Saturday 13.5.2023, 8:30 a.m.) starts running through the martyred places of Crete, stopping at a total of 41 monuments of villages that suffered Nazi atrocities.

The aim of the project is to highlight the struggle to assert German debts and to support the proposal made to the Institute for Educational Policy and the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs that pupils in primary and secondary school are taught through textbooks and other teaching methods. helps, in print and digital format, the history and effects of the Holocausts, the massacres of civilians, the famine of the Occupation and all the Nazi and Fascist atrocities committed by the occupiers in our Homeland during the period 1940 -1945. and preserving their memory in future generations is the most important deterrent to their repetition in our country and wherever war paranoia prevails.

Stergios Arapoglou is a general surgeon and doctor of the Faculty of Medicine of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and works in the 5th University Clinic of Surgery of the General Hospital of Thessaloniki “Ippokrateio”. He is an ultramarathon runner and Spartan athlete. This itinerary project, which is implemented exclusively at its own expense, starts from Marasia in the prefecture of Evros, the most remote point of mainland Greece, and ends in Kato Zakrotou in the prefecture of Lasithi, the one of the most remote points of insular Greece. .
