The CT scanner is broken – He doesn’t even have a contract in case of failure – Ikarian Radio

The CT scanner at Ikaria Hospital is out of service and while the outage has been reported since March, according to the Hospital Employees Association press release, the CT scanner does not have a contract that technically covers the machine in failure, which means the issue will take a long time to resolve, if resolved at all. The company has seen the damage in the photos and verbally declares that the machine is working. The administrations and officials have not issued any document certifying that the axial does not work.

SENI press release

IKARIA HOSPITAL EMPLOYEES ASSOCIATION

What’s going on with the CT scanner at Ikaria Hospital?

We live in a time when the government’s pre-election discourse, constantly oscillating between lies and audacity, transforms into a magical image the harsh reality that we have been living every day for years.

An exception to this situation is not even the problem with the scanner which, although it has been malfunctioning for 2.5 months, the assistant director of the hospital has informally and verbally told us that … it works! ! On the same wavelength, perhaps due to a corresponding update, 2 also movedTHE Ministry of Health.

As for the co-director of the interconnected hospitals of Samos and Ikaria, to the questions of the patients on whether or not the axial unit works, she should declare her ignorance !!

Faced with this miserable situation which is being built up at the expense of the sick and their already bled pockets, with the administrations of the hospitals and the 2THE With the Ministry of Health duckling, government candidates not articulating a single conversation on the issue, and private diagnostic centers hoarding, as workers we are obligated to inform the local community of the truth .

And this is none other than the fact that the CT scanner in the hospital in Ikaria breaks down and until repaired, it cannot operate safely for the patient, for the workers, or for the machine itself. It is indicative that the damage has been declared

· by the doctor in charge of the axis immediately and in time from March 2, that is, the day on which the problem arose in its operation, and

· the technical service of the hospital which, in a document dated March 10, asked the supply office to order the necessary spare parts. And we say maybe, because so far there has been no certification of damage by a company technician General Electric !!!.

During a massive intervention by our association with the hospital administration concerning the axial problem, in the presence of dozens of colleagues, we noted the following unpublished facts of which we must inform the local community:

1. The axial tomograph has no contract which technically covers the machine in case of damage !! It’s like saying that we drive a car that is not insured or that we buy a device without warranty.

2. The alleged “diagnosis” of the machine failure was not made by an autopsy by a company specialist, but through photographs (!!) sent by the technical service agents who have done their best since the problem arose.

3. Until today no qualified technician came to check the machinenor his specialist General Electric but no other expert either!!

4. For the vital problem of axis operation they had not been informed by management for some time EKAV, Medical Service, Scientific Council, the emergency doctors of our hospital and the local community of our islands, thus causing an incredible mess in our daily functioning!!

5. To date and with the exception of the doctor in charge of the scanner, no competent body (hospital administrations, 2THE Ministry of Health, Ministry of Health) did not issue any official document informing about the status of the scanner.

6. The company General Electric verbally, sometimes it is said that the axial can work, sometimes that the operation of the machine is dangerous because of the breakdown, but she NEVER gives her position on the matter in writing and officially. It is usually hidden. And apparently it will never be given because no technician would take responsibility for the safety or non-operation of a high-voltage machine unless they were compensated to carry out an on-site autopsy of the defect.

Questions to the authorities arise effortlessly: Why hasn’t a specialized technician come yet? Are the reasons economic? Why does this bottleneck exist? Why is there a cover-up leaving workers exposed and patients suffering? Why so far no manager informs in writing and officially the employees and the patients if the axial can work or not?

As a workers’ association, we denounce the authorities (hospital administrations, 2THE HYPE, Department of Health) for obstruction and taunting. They with their attitude of obtaining oil by making pre-election disinformation from above make the machine work, while at the same time the workers are exposed and the patients without the necessary and vital tests for them.

The demonstrated irresponsibility of those in charge shows once again that they write on the oldest of their shoes the needs of patients, apparently for political, financial or other reasons known only to them. Reasons, which on the one hand do not even have the courage to announce in writing and on the other hand to tell lies that the so-called axial works. And all this always orally. We talk about such a responsibility…

Under this regime, expensive transfers are made for an axial, cancer patients suffer and workers expose themselves to the demonstrated dangerous irresponsibility of officials.

The CT scanner as well as the artificial kidney unit was born out of protracted and persistent struggles and demands by our association and the carrier associations on our islands, they belong to the people, they were put in place with taxpayers’ money and they must serve them.

Because the case stinks of Tempe, we demand:

· Let the taunts and delays stop now

· Fix Ikaria Hospital CT Scanner NOW

· More avada in the private sector

· Compensate patients who have been harmed in any way by the non-functioning of the axial unit due to negligence and ridicule shown by the competent organs.

It was in May 2019 that the CT scanner was inaugurated at Ikaria Hospital. The ribbon was cut by the time Deputy Health Minister Pavlos Polakis accompanied by SYRIZA officials.

After 4 years, we are back to square one. The axial “finished us” of course after many adventures, since for a very long time there was not even a staff to make it work.

The accident was declared, the spare parts were ordered without the damage being certified by the manufacturer, since there is no technical assistance contract. The agreement on spare parts was made through photos.

Let’s go where it goes…
