There’s a new kind of TV for Samsung, LG, and Vizio, and it’s completely free, unless you count the price on your attention, your data, and of course, your privacy. Telly, a company created by the co-founder of Pluto TV, Ilya Pozinoffers a TV that makes up for its non-existent price by streaming advertisement on a second, smaller screen. The company calls this thin strip of screen a “smart display”, which is separated from the main TV by a sound bar.

Unlike most mainstream smart TV operating systems, TellyOS currently does not support third-party streaming apps such as Netflix. That’s why Telly comes with a free 4K Android TV dongle that you can use to watch any streaming service you want. It’s also compatible with other streaming devices like Roku, Amazon Fire Stick, and Apple TV, and has three HDMI inputs, 2 USB inputs, and a tuner you can use to watch live broadcasts.
Telly also comes with 40 different templates Games and the ability to play music from popular music services. It even has an “AI voice assistant”, allowing you to set timers or snooze an alarm. The company has yet to reveal which music services it works with, and hasn’t specified which games or AI assistant the device will feature.
Still, everything indicates that Pozin has huge goals for Telly. It has made a bet on free-to-air TV in the past with the launch of Pluto TV, one of the most successful ad-supported free-to-air (FAST) TV streaming services, and will likely apply that knowledge to free-to-air TV. material too.
